WALNUT MOVEMENT

The project, Walnut Movement, is a meditation on the climate crisis and posthuman relations to nature––that is, an imagining of a future where humans and nature relate to each other in playful and ethical ways. The installation includes four wood knobs, manipulated into sculptures and incorporate other materials and found objects, such as walnuts, moss, feathers, and clay. The materials were collected from the surrounding landscape, and the installation even includes a sound performance component as well. The 'movement' feature of the work's title is in reference to this sound component as well as to the suggestive 'movement' of the four sculptural forms, which appear, in a playful manner, to rise up and dance to the walnut movement.
